Siemens Energy helps customers keep the lights on during COVID-19 lockdown – with cloud based 3D visualization technology.

As a response to the global Covid-19 lockdown Siemens Energy’s Training and Competence Institute in Lincoln, UK, is giving their customers access to a cloud-based 3D visualization service developed by Swedish company Interspectral.

With help of the service Siemens technicians and customers can access and visualize massive CAD models of their products in real time over the cloud.

The visualization is streamed from a cloud server to the client device. This means that you can visualize massive 3D CAD files on basically any device from anywhere.

”We have chosen to give some of our customers access to Interspectral’s cloud solution as part of our response to the Covid-19 lockdown. In this way, we know that if there are conversations with the customer on the unit during the time when face to face support is more difficult, we can use the visualization to talk through gas turbine condition and make sure we support the customer so that they can keep the turbines running.”

Without the need to reduce the part complexity the users can run the service on any device. With help of an intuitive interface its possible to explore complex constructions, going from an overview of the entire facility down to a single bolt.

”Some of these customer’s turbines are responsible for critical services to society such as district heating, clean water and also for power for pharmaceutical research and production facilities. We’re using this technology to help our customers to keep the lights on”
